Error while trying to print

changing driver results in 'printer driver is not installed' error on server 2008
I'm facing this strange problem.
First I installed a two drivers:
HP Color Inkjet cp1700 and HP color Laserjet 2550 PS.
Then I installed a printer, using an existing driver (one of the two above).
So far no problems.
But when I change the driver to the other driver installed on the server (in the advanced tab of the printer properties) I get this strange error:
"The 'HP color inkjet cp1700' printer driver is not installed on this computer. Some printer properties will not be accessible unless you install the printer driver. Do you want to install the driver now?" Yes/No
No matter what you choose, from now on this message keeps poping up when you enter printer properties page.
Both the drivers are default drivers, installed with server 2008 (not downloaded from the HP website). A lot of other HP drivers (on server 2008 DVD) have the same problem, but not all of them.
I tested this on server 2008 standard and enterprise edition, x86 and x64. All the same problem.
I tried to use the 'standard' way to add/manage printers by control panel > printers. And I used Printer Management. All the same.
Sharing the printer or not, does not make any difference.
Are there people having the same problem? Or maybe already a way to solve this?
Thanks,
Dirk

Driver for MS Publisher Imagesetter missing on Windows Server 2003
I've got 8 servers running Windows Server 2003, 4 of them are unable to install MS Publisher Imagesetter from the Add Print Wizard, the only options available are:
35PPM PS
35PPM PCL
35PPM PCL6
Also there a group "Generic Printers" but this only contains Laser printer drivers.
The servers that are running Windows 2003 are using either Office 2003 or Office 2010, but all have the same issue.
Why is the option to install MS Publisher Imagesetter not available?

Print shares not showing on Node 2
I'm having an issue with my Server 2008 R2 64-bit fully patched Print cluster (2 Nodes).
Currently, the Print Spooler and Shares are running off Node 01 without issues. If I fail over to Node 02 all the services start (Cluster name, IP Address, Disk, and Spooler service). I see the drive$ and print$ shares appear, but none of my 160+ print shares appear.
I've waited approx 30 minutes for "something" to happen.
I can flip the cluster back to Node 01 and within 15 seconds all services and shares are up and running on that node.
Nothing is appearing in the Cluster Events or in the Windows Event Viewer
The same Xerox drivers are installed on each node
The Cluster Validation passes with zero issues
Not sure where else to check. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Edit:
Forgot to mention I've also disabled both Firewalls just to ensure it wasn't getting blocked for any reason...
Print Dialog Box too slow to appear
Hi,
Recently users started to complaint about the "Print" dialog window is taking too long to appear. I did some tests with different programs and the experience is the same. I've done a couple of research online and i could not find anything helpful.
We do have a Server 2008 R2 Print server and a Server 2003 Standard edition, both servers are acting like PRINT servers with just the "print server" roles installed. I've done the same tests with both servers and here are the results;
- Only 1 printer is installed on the workstation (Windows 7 Professional X86)
- From Excel, Paint and PDF-XChange Viewer PRO (pdf viewer), I do "File" - "Print" and waiting for about 20 seconds for the "print" dialog box to appear.
- I deleted all the printers that were added on the workstation from the print server, and did the same tests
- From Excel, Paint and PDF-XChange Viewer PRO, I do "File" - "Print" and the dialog box appears almost instantly without any delay.
(I have done the same tests with 3 different workstations, 2 physical & 1 virtual machine and they are all Windows 7 Professional X86)
How can i troubleshoot this kind of problem. I looked at the "Event Viewer" but no luck. This problem started a couple of days ago and nothing has been changed in our systems with regards to the printer.
Thanks in advance.

Test New Printer Driver from Windows 2008 Print Server
We would like to test "KONICA MINOLTA C3850 Series PCL6" version 3.1.2.0 x64 driver and printer Server already installed with Version 3.0.1.0 x64. If we try to add new Printer Driver in the Print Server it is automatically upgrading the driver version and all printers getting new version.
Is there any way that I can add new driver version (without upgrade) in the Print server so that I can change one printer to that driver version and user can test it?
Splwow64.exe process PDF printing issue
We are having problems with users on site experiencing error messages when printing PDF's. I can't seem to replicate it and it doesn't happen all the time so it is difficult troubleshoot. However what we have found is that the print process splwow64.exe
possibly gets stuck and then throws up the error message 'The document could not be printed' then when you select OK, you get the error message,
'There were no pages selected to print'. We use both Konica Minolta printers and Lexmark's here and this problem only occurs when you try to print to a Konica. It does not happen on the lexmark's. The Konicas are using the winprint processor where
as the lexmarks use their own. From our investigations we are narrowing it down to the splwow64.exe process as you are unable to print a PDF to a konica once this error message is thrown up, however when you end the splwow64.exe process from task manager,
it lets you print straight away. This process allows you to print to 64bit from a 32bit application
I have found a windows patch which sets the timeout of the splwow64.exe. process to two minutes in case it gets stuck but this didnt help. I have also found a fix where you create a registry key to manually set the timeout of the splwow64.exe and this didnt help either. This is because when the users have 32bit applications open in the background that require this process, it wont end until all of these are closed. So when it fails or gets stuck, the registry fix wont end it due to these other applications being open.
Running out of ideas, please help!
Print Management not responding
I'm using Print Management from my desktop to manage our print servers. Everything works fine except it locks up when trying to add a printer and also if you click the Ports tab within any printer properties dialog box. But if I log into the servers themselves print management works fine doing those functions.
This happens from both my Windows 7 or Windows 10 desktops.
RSClientPrint WINDOWS 10
Hi,
Question on RSClientPrint Active X control for internet Explorer 11 on Windows 10.
I have the active x control installed. It's listed in IE11 as RSClientPrint 2008 Class. It works except for the fact it won't pick up the system default printer. It just defaults to the first printer in the list, and I have to change it every time I want to print.
IE says the file is called rsclientprint.dll located in C:\windows\downloaded program files. In windows 10 that folder is empty, and I can't find rsclientprint.dll anywhere on the client computer (which makes me wonder how it's working at all; registry settings maybe?)
In windows 7 all the files are there in that location, and it works properly.
How do I make it work properly in windows 10?
Thanks

Adding Print Server Role throws error 0x800f0922
Hi all.

- Under Print Server properties I removed all groups, and added: All Application Packages, Creator Owner, and a custom security group with Print, Manage Printers, Manage Documents, View Server, and Manage Server permissions.
- I uninstallled the Print Server role.
- Reboot.
- I tried to reinstall the Print Server role, and it throws this error: 0x800f0922.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Windows 7/XP users need to install the printer driver frequently from Windows Server 2003 32 bit operating system
Hi,
I have many Windows 7 and Windows XP users that needs to install the printer driver when they want to print from a network printer from Windows Server 2003 SP2 server. This happens frequently althought the print queue is established before. The error is as follows.
Error Message: "Do you trust this printer? Windows needs to download and install a software driver from the\\servername computer to print to PRINTERNAME. Proceed only if you trust the\\servername computer and the network, and then restart the print job."
Please let me know how to fix this issue.
Thank you,
Nikki.
